Length of time in industry | 30 years gulp! |
What do you like about your role? | Days are never the same (even when doing a standard induction). I enjoy the variety in my role. I get a kick out of watching people’s faces when they really ‘get it’. Boredom has never hit me, what is that?! It’s great that many aspects of my role have real diversity which include being creative, calm, spontaneous, designing, testing and of course, relaying the magic in its simplest form. |
What is challenging within your role? | Staying current with the every changing landscape of IT. Delivering to unrealistic timescales! |
What advice would you give someone starting out? | Believe in yourself. Be passionate, honest and brave. |
If you weren't working in legal, what do you think you'd be doing? | Some sort of role where I would motivate folks to do great things and feel good about themselves. |
Tell us about an "average" day, or if every day is different tell us about a recent day | There are no average days to be honest so let’s focus on a recent day: Creation of videos in the morning. Secondment for a bit in the afternoon with Lawyer and EA at desks to ensure I keep up-to-date with current trends and practices. Floor walking for recent software rollout. Preparation of materials for IT Drop In Clinics. Problem solving IT Helpdesk queries. Meeting with the other IT Trainer to prioritise tasks and encourage learning and growth. Preparing learning to bring IT training in line with LTC4 in preparation of good things to come. When rolling out a big upgrade of software, it’s a whole different ball game, but hey variety is the spice of life! |
